Happy Birthday!

*Seth was lying on the ground, his back facing the night starry sky. A perfect night, for a perfect date.

Hence, the woman beside him. Seth gave a quick smile, as she lay right beside him, in a similar position. Had this beed the normal times, Seth was sure he would have placed an arm around her...maybe a few soft mummerings, then...he might just get lucky. He wonder if he should place an arm around her or something.

"Stay Sharp, Falcon." Raine, AKA Divan, hissed, obviously noticing his glances.

Damn, she's good...

Captain Seth Harrison was in a covert-squad that specialised in Counter-Terrorism events, particularly in the Sniper field. They specialised in giving Sniper cover fire to people who require it most.

Sighing, "Falcon" peered back inside the scope of the PSG-1 Sniper rifle that was perched in front of him. Raine, who's radio name, for some reason, was Divan, was a stunningly attractive female. Being one of the few females (only one of the two unattached) that was in his Squad, she provided lots of competition for the men on and off the field.

Then again, women like her can be a distraction in the field...like what she had been. Luckily, no missions have been failed because of them. On any other day, she would have been the sniper. Today, she was his "watchman", or spotter, as some call them.

Usually, Sergents would be the snipers, and officers like him would be in the command center, ensuring that everything goes on smoothly.

Then again, 2 events in a week has been exhausting for his men, which was why he came here to provide fire.

Today's was no better then the last one. The last one was a bank hold-up situation that had gone wrong. Today was one that happened in an embassy. Hostages are some high profile political jocks. Only 6 enemies counted for so far.

"All squads, check in. We begin in five." his current commander, Major Homer or Homie or whatever's voice came crackling in on his radio ear piece.

"Rifle 3, Falcon, ready. Rifle 3, sights are hot." Falcon replied. Raine tapped his shoulder lightly, indicating that she too, was ready.

"Target, 600 meters" her silky sexy voice came into his ears as the rest of the squad, including 2 other snipers from the local SWAT unit replied their commander.

A thumbs up was returned by Falcon.

"5-4-3- (the SWAT units would be thumbing their flashbang triggers at this time.)2-1. HIT IT!" the commander half screamed, probably due to a lack of actual field experience.

Immediately, a loud boom was heard, as the demolitions person pressed his button to blow the side and back doors apart. Next came the loud pop sounds of flashbangs which are designed to disorientate the enemy. Immediately, Falcon squessed his trigger on the PSG-1 Sniper rifle gently. A loud boom was heard as the 7.61 NATO round immediately left his Heckler & Koch Sniper rifle, traveling at 3 times the speed of sound. The target which he was aiming at for a long time dropped like a sack of beans as the bullet entered his head, blowing it up like a can of soup. With a satisfisfied smile, Falcon heard his spotter say the next target's location, as he moved his sights to the enemy.

One gentle squeeze later, the enemy will do no further harm.

"Falcon, twin Tango down." he reported, as the other two snipers reported their kills.

"Command! This is Kingston! We got a hostile which managed to escape us! Man down! Man down! Warning, warning, we got a target heading for the basement."

Oh shit. That means the target will be appearing from the basement doors.

Right into his line of fire.

Falcon smiled as he waited for the doors to ope-

There he is, running like a dog away from his angry masters, looking back constantly.

"Rifle 3 is on target"

Good night, ki-..

Wait a minute...

"Cassie..?" Falcon muttered.

"What? Blow his ass o-..Oh.." Raine said, before noticing why Seth had not blew the target's brain off.

Standing in the middle of the moonlight, Cassie had the figure which many, if not all, woman would want to die for. Intelligent and sporty, she was also many men's dream date. Any woman, including Raine, beside her would appear to be dumpy and plain. She was like a 10 foot tall christmas tree in a cemetery that was in the middle of the desert at night.

Seeing her for the first time in years, Seth's muscles tightened, his brain not knowing what commands to give.

Cassie was Seth's partner before Raine took over that position. Together with Seth, they formed the dream Sniper team, both can understand each other without the need to talk much. Cassie was also the first female member and sniper in the squad. They broke all the records in the range in the sniping category. Initially, she was just a spotter, but progressed till she was in charge of a squad of snipers. People who knew of them, often spoke of them in awe, wondering how they had been able to save so many lives with their sniper rifles.

Needless to say, she was Seth's girlfriend.

Sadly, during a bank robbery, she missed her target, resulting in a death of a civilian life. One mistake was all it took for the command to remove her from their squad. Seth has since lost touch with her.

Until now.

"Cassie.." Seth whisperered mentally, unable to believe what he is seeing. He has been looking for her for years, and here she was, a terrorist, and Seth a muscle twitch away from ending her life.

Orders....or....

Hell with it...

Seth fired the rifle.

The bullet missed her head by mere inches.

Cassie looked in his direction, shocked to see that she was still alive.

Even at 500 meters, in such darkness, she knew instantly who gave her a chance to live.

A quick salute was given as she ran into the woods. The police would have a hard time finding her now...if they even can.

"Rifle 3 has missed. Goddamnit..." Falcon tried to sound angry, hoping that was what his commanders would hear.

Raine looked in his direction. No words were needed, as in her position, she too, would have done the same thing. Both had been great friends in college and in the squad.

Sighing, Seth mentally prepared a report to his superiors, wondering how he is going to explain his first ever miss.*
